Snipe Lights Game Modes Explained

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably either purchased Snipe Lights or you’re considering purchasing an interactive shooting target. Congratulations either way!

The return on your investment starts by understanding all the fun and challenging Snipe Lights game modes that help hockey players of all levels improve their shooting skills.

Here is how the game modes work:

Old School

Wayne Gretzky famously said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Old School Mode embraces that philosophy and teaches players the importance of shot volume without sacrificing accuracy.

In this game, one target will light up until hit, and then another target will immediately light up, and so on. Each hit earns a point, and the game is over after 30 seconds. Plenty of pucks and a focused, rapid-fire approach are the keys to success in Old School. This game mode has a 2-player option.

Shoot for the Stars

Don’t let the simplicity of this game fool you. Shoot for the Stars lays the foundation for every other light-up shooting target game. One target will light up and you try to hit it as fast as possible. Your score is based on the time it takes to hit five targets.

This game mode gets to the essence of being a successful hockey sniper: being able to read and react with lightning-quick precision. This game mode has a 2 players option.

Gopher Hunt

We all know that hockey players also love golf, but this one has nothing to do with Caddyshack. Gopher Hunt involves a random target lighting up for three seconds or until it is hit, whichever comes first. The score is based on the total time it takes to hit five targets. This game mode has a 2-player option.

The built-in time limit and sudden appearance of a light developslight forces players to develops players quick reflexes to get the best score, just like in a real games.

Marksman

This game won’t be a favorite of the future goalies you’ll face. Marksman is all about repetition and consistency.  Only one target will light up for the whole game. Hit that target as fast as possible. Repeat until you hit that same target five times. The faster you hit it, the better the score. This game mode includes a 2-player option.

Great shooters learn to pinpoint vulnerabilities in goalies quickly. Marksman helps shooters improve consistent accuracy by forcing you to build muscle memory.  Apologies to goalies if Snipe Light users light up your weak spot repeatedly.

Nasty Mitts

If you thrive on chaos, this is the game mode for you. Picture six rounds with five seconds of mayhem. During each round, three lights will turn on and change colors as the time ticks away. Try to hit them all.

Scoring is based on how quickly you hit targets:

Red (2 sec) = 4 points

Green (3 sec) = 2 points

Blue (4 sec) = 1 point

The final score is your total points after six rounds. Nasty Mitts makes you perform better under pressure and develop focus in spite of distractions.  Do you think you’re ready?

Supreme Focus

This game mode exercises the brain as much as the reflexes. Three targets will light up for three seconds. Two lights will be the same color, and one will be a unique color. Hit the unique color within 3 seconds for a point. There is no time limit, but the score is based on how long it takes to hit five unique targets.

Supreme Focus teaches players to quickly analyze scoring opportunities and simultaneously choose the right one, just like what’s needed in a real game.  Forcing players to process which lit targets to hit and which lit targets not to hit, Supreme Focus is a hockey shooting game that adds an extra layer of fun and fast problem solving.

All-Star Accuracy

If you’ve ever watched the Accuracy Shooting event in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition, you’ve already been training for this game mode in your head. All-Star Accuracy starts with all four targets lit red. Each one you hit turns green. Once all four targets are green, your score is based on the total time it took to hit all four. This game mode is all about efficiency.
Add a passer at the side of the goal to simulate in-game conditions. Conner McDavid won the 2024 event, going four-for-four in 9.2 seconds, and Daniel Sedin holds the record, hitting four targets on four shots in 7.3 seconds. Can you beat that?

Virtual Goalie

What do you do when your goalie is running late or misses practice? You play virtual goalie, of course!

One target will light up for 3 seconds and then flash for 2 seconds. The next target will light up when the first target starts to flash. Then the cycle continues. Hit a light while it’s on or flashing to score a goal.

Virtual goalie has no time limit or score limit because it’s specifically designed for practices and scrimmages. It’s a huge step up from shooting on an empty net and mimics facing a real goalie more than standard shooting targets because it forces players to keep their heads up to shoot for the right target.
